About me

I believe every child has a right to be heard and listened to; to be accepted and respected
without judgement, for who they are, whatever their background or circumstances. 

 

I am a PTUK play therapist who has extensive experience of working with children
displaying a range of behaviours resulting from events such as bereavement and loss,
disrupted attachment, trauma and abuse, as well as conditions such as Asperger's,
autism, ADHD, PTSD, FASD and ODD.  I use a range of different techniques including
non-directive Play Therapy, Theraplay and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).

I also offer clinical supervision to play therapists and some other modalities.

I have previously worked for Suffolk County Council Adoption Support, as a Practitioner
at Ormiston Families helping children with emerging mental health issues, and
 for the West Suffolk Portage Service. 

 

My main qualifications are:

  • BSc (Hons) Psychology

  • APAC Certificate in Therapeutic Play

  • APAC Diploma in Child Play Therapy

  • Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (Level 1 and 2)

  • Theraplay (Level 1 and 2)

  • APAC Certificate in Supervision

 

As a member of  Play Therapy UK (PTUK)  and the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy (APAC)I work within
PTUK's Ethical Framework. PTUK is registered with the Professional Standards Authority.

have an enhanced DBS. My PTUK registration means I have regular clinical supervision and undertake ongoing Continuing Professional Development.
